Ok, so been quite busy of late. Am getting married in 42 days - not that I am counting or anything!
My dress is starting to look rather pretty and im so impressed with myself. Everytime I do something extra to it, I wait around until my partner comes home and show him the next bit. 'Look, look, look, ive stitched these two pieces together today! Doesnt it look great!!''To which i receive a blank look that says " I cant tell what you have done since you last showed me"
So anyway I do actually have more than two pieces together. The whole thing is in one piece - i need to get the length of the straps right, so im relying on the fact that i need to put it on and trust a man to put pins in it! :-s and do the hem. Which I think i will be ok with. Considering that i have put the zip in and taken it out, and put it in and taken it out, i put it back in again and it seems to work.
Pictures soon! No point telling you what i have done if i cant show you!

A beginners guide to...
Hello and welcome to my Blog.
Blogging is all new to me and I dont really have much of an idea what I am doing, but thought I would give it shot. So here goes!
I have just started a dressmaking course and this is all about my journey from being a complete novice and knowing absolutely nothing and sewing. Or even how to use a sewing machine!
So anyway, the course has started, I have attended every week since the beginning and im desperate to be star student! My first piece is supposed to be some trousers which are coming along nicely. Although I have got a little ahead of myself and I am now obsessed with Amazon recently discovering that you can actually look inside the books before buying! So anyway, I bought this book - Make your own clothes by Marie Clayton. Not the most flattering patterns in the whole wide world but it was the software that came with it that persuaded my purchase.
So I started off with the drawstring shorts because I was far too impatient to not do anything all week and wait for my class. And guess what? They FIT.
I never have close that fit. I have a tiny waist which is good, but a behind that makes JLo look as flat as a pancake. So any kind of clothes that isnt in the form of an A-Line skirt or dress just does not fit.
So anyway, that s a brief introuction to what I have done to date, I have purchased New Look pattern 6557. So will keep you up dated with my progress. Wish me luck.
